Aussies will be judged by G Bodegard (Sweden) who is also doing the Hound and Working Dog Groups and Best in Show.
Dr Bodegard is a paediatrician, psychoanalyst and child psychiatrist from Stockholm Medical University of Karolinska and is at present involved in research and clinical work with refugee children from Central Asian former Soviet Republics He has been passionate about Opera since a child.
Dr Bodegard acquired his first show dog when at age 13, a deerhound. He spent summers as a teenager in the UK working with dogs and learning British 'dog know how'. He started breeding greyhounds in 1966 with a coowned bitch Ch Piruett becoming Dog of The Year in Sweden in 1975 one of his greatest achievements. He was the founder of a dynasty of Scandinavian greyhounds that have had influences in the Norway, Sweden, UK and the US. Dr Bodegard has been judging since 1966 attaining FCI All Breeds status in 1997. He has judged at Crufts, FCI World Shows, Australian Royals as well as extensively all over the world. He has been President of the Swedish Greyhound Club and board member of the Swedish Sighthound Club. At present he is a member of the Central Board of the Swedish Kennel Club, and is Chairman of the Standards Committee. Dr Bodegard is an active writer in the Swedish dog press and also publications in England and USA. He has lectured and chaired conferences on the sight hound breeds and in 2010 Chaired The general Judges Conference in Sweden. Dr Bodegard has a keen interest in the risks of extreme 'type' on health and soundness and has been involved in the development of Breed Specific Instructions regarding exaggerations in pedigree dogs. This project which is routine in Sweden has become a model for other countries.
