About The Club

The Australian Shepherd Association of NSW is a club affiliated with DogsNSW with the purpose of:

Promoting and encouraging interest in the Australian Shepherd and pure bred dogs and their breeding while maintaining their natural working abilities.

The Australian Shepherd Association of NSW was founded in late 1990's by a small group of enthusiasts interested in promoting our fantastic breed to the general public and educating breed fanciers in responsible ownership and breeding while preserving its natural working ability.

The club flourished and quickly reached over 100 members. The club held Australia's first specialist Aussie conformation show in 1998, and holds a combined conformation show & obedience trial (restricted to Australian Shepherds) which has a permanent date of Easter Saturday & an agility trial permanently approved for the 28th Sunday (open to all ANKC approved Working Dog breeds) annually. The club has also always been heavily involved in other events, holding breed stalls at Royals, doggy days out, pet expos, fun days and more.

Currently the breed is one of the top 5 in the Working Dog group, highlighting the importance of ongoing judges’ education and public awareness and introducing the unfortunate need for rescue and rehoming services.

15 years later we are again looking to reach that level of membership and to enjoy the keen participation of all members, new and old, in all aspects of our club's aims and objectives. Our membership fees are very reasonable and we encourage you to download the relevant form here, send it in and join the fun!

One of the oustanding features of the breed is its versatility and we would like to have a member base that supports and participates in all of the activities at which these dogs excel.
